About Baking Conversions

Baking Conversions exists for one reason: a cup of flour and a cup of honey do not weigh the same, and most converters pretend they do. We give you the exact weight for your exact ingredient.

How every result is calculated

Every conversion on this site is a direct calculation: weight (g) = density (g/ml) × volume (ml). We use the US legal cup of 236.588 ml and the US tablespoon of 14.7868 ml. No lookup tables, no hidden rounding — the same math every time.

Where our densities come from

Densities are taken from USDA FoodData Central, published reference charts from King Arthur Baking Company, and manufacturer nutrition labels. Where sources disagree, we use the most commonly cited value for the typical, unpacked home-baking form of the ingredient.

Accuracy

Values are rounded for readability. Real-world variation by brand, packing method, and humidity can add a few percent — for critical recipes, a kitchen scale is always the final authority.
